2 weeks off!
No games for either team now til Nov 5th - training will however continue as normal on Friday nights 7-8pm.
U13s defeated
I wasn't at the game, but the U13s were apparently unlucky to lose 1-4. Rhys Potter kept up his goalscoring record with another goal, his seventh in 5 games, so well done Rhys !
U14's damage limitation!
U14s were up against the 'giants' of the U14 league, WWS, a team bred on raw steak and egg nog, or seemingly so due to the size of them! We had lost our last meeting 0-18, and WWS beat Crewe Shooters by a similar margin last week, so the omens were bad.
However, 20 minutes in and the score 0-0, the teachings of new defensive coach Rob seemed to be working - WWS had 90% of the possession but were unabale to find a way through.
Inevitably, the goals came with the score 0-5 at half time, and 0-9 by the end. Everyone got a game, Mike Reece had to go off injured after head butting the floor in a desperate attempt to keep out the 9th goal. All in all, despite the result, another improved performance.
Learning points - please, please, PLEASE clear the ball at the first opportunity - at least 5 of their goals were caused in part by messing about with the ball in our own area. If the ball isn't near our goal, they can't score! Also, some of us need to get an early night on Saturday night if we are not to spend most of the game looking half asleep ;-)
Two weeks off now - next game is another potentially tricky encounter with Crewe Terriers on November 5th.

U13's unlucky
Tigers U13's were unlucky in defeat as they went down 1-3 to Gist in the U13 league.
Gist were 2-0 up at half time, and Tigers failed to claw back the deficit in the second half, despite a penalty from Jordan Batho, who was awarded man of the match.
Ex Tigers striker James Taylor sealed the win for Gist with a second half strike from the edge of the box and was always a threat to the Tigers defence.

U14's win !
Our 14's posted their first win of the season today with an excellent performance against Wistaston Wanderers. Tigers went a goal down in the first minute, as the ref allowed kick off despite one of our players being not ready to commence. The ball was played down the left wing, and the cross found an excellent touch from Blakemore who slotted the ball home.
Tigers battled back and were level on 15 minutes - excellent through ball from Conor found Luke Williams who slotted home from 10 yards.
Wistaston regained the lead on 21 minutes with a freak goal - Blakemore again found space, this time on the right wing, and swung a cross over which looped over Mike Reece's head and into the top left hand corner of the goal. However Tigers levelled just before the break with Pendergast latching on to a clearance and slotting the ball home. 2-2 half time.
Tigers made a number of changes for the second half to give everyone a game, and the fresh legs proved useful as they piled the pressure on the Wanderers goal. On 51 minutes Tigers made the breakthrough - a shot from Conor was half cleared and Pendergast let fly from 18 yards, finding the bottom corner of the net. Tigers failed to kill the game off, but excellent defensive play in the last 15 minutes kept Wanderers at bay, to provide Tigers with a deserved first win of the season. The win moved Tigers to joint 8th in the table, level on points with Crewe Shooters and ahead of both Wistaston Wanderers and WWS Wanderers in the table. Man of the Match was Simon Denney thanks to his second half clean sheet, but everyone played well and all deserve praise for their attitude and commitment.

Bad weekend!
Both our sides suffered heavy defeats this weekend - I didn't attend the U13 game but I believe Alsager Town were excellent! Rhys Potter scored his 6th goal in 3 games to continue his scoring spree - well done Rhys!
The U14 held Team Bentley to 0-0 for the fist 20 mins despite some very poor refereeing - in the end our opponents decided to try and kick us off the park and the ref let them carry on! At 0-1 we had a chance to equalise, but Craig Clark's excellent effort crept narrowly wide. 0-4 at half time. The second half saw Bentley exploit their lanky left winger to the full, however again many decisions seemed to be going against us. On the half hour Adam Pendergast was head-butted and retaliated by throwing the ball at the culprit - both players were sent off prompting a tirade of abuse from the Team Bentley 'management'. In the end, once again the result failed to illustrate the improvement in the team - Mike Reece again played well in goal, Craig Clark showed his pace up front, and Tom Pitman made an excellent debut at left wing. Final score 0-11, should have been much closer.
Onwards and upwards! Positives are :-(a) We are not bottom! and (b) We play the team who ARE bottom next week - so let's go for a win !!!! Fixture details to follow.
